The fate of Middle Earth rests in the One Ring, which was forged by the Dark Lord Sauron and lost for centuries. The One Ring falls into the hands of the unlikeliest of creatures, a Hobbit named Frodo Baggins, who is tasked with destroying the ring in the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged. Frodo and his faithful companions must risk everything and battle against the forces of evil to save Middle Earth.
Based on the book trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings is an award-winning cinematic masterpiece filled with adventure, epic battles, and heartwarming characters. But did you know that the films contain Biblical parallels and Christian themes? J.R.R. Tolkien himself wrote, “The Lord of the Rings is of course a fundamentally religious…work.” Come explore the deeper meaning behind the films by joining us for a screening of the second movie of the trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, with live commentary on Biblical themes by Harvard University Chaplain Rev. Rebekah Kim. You will be blown away!
As a college student at Seoul National University (the top-ranked university in Korea), Chaplain Rebekah came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Ever since then she has had a special heart for college students and has devoted her life to college ministry. She has served as a Southern Baptist Chaplain at Harvard University for over twenty years. Chaplain Rebekah has been traveling to top universities around the globe to share her insights about The Lord of the Rings. She received a Master of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently finishing her Doctor of Ministry degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
